Description

This 6-hour workshop is a culturally responsive, performance-focused experience designed for Indigenous music artists across all genres. Co-led by voice coaches Micah Barnes (European Settler, Treaty 13) and Donita Large (Cree, Treaty 6), the session blends contemporary vocal techniques with Indigenous-centered approaches in a Two-Worlds framework.

Through guided exercises artists will:

  • Learn body and vocal warm-ups from contemporary vocal traditions
  • Explore the intersection of artistic and Indigenous identity
  • Deconstruct internal and external challenges of performing in mainstream spaces
  • Receive individual performance coaching
  • Build confidence in sharing stories and becoming comfortable being our authentic selves on stage

The workshop is designed to create a supportive, culturally safe space for Indigenous artists at all levels of experience to grow, connect, and explore their voice.
