THE ART OF VOCAL PERFORMANCE with Gerry Geddes & Micah Barnes

During this 4 hour “Master Class” participants will:
  • Perform Onstage w. Professional Accompanist
  • Work “One on One” with Coaches 
  • Deepen Vocal & Warm-Up Technique
  • Enhance Stage Craft  & Onstage Skill Sets
  • Learn the Principles of a GREAT Performance!

$150 USD

During this intensive one-day workshop we will be covering the key Principles of Vocal Performance, including a proper vocal warm up,  vocal technique, how to prep material for stage, focus on phrasing and storytelling, material selection, working with a microphone, moving onstage, overcoming stage fright issues & creating a deeper relationship with the audience.

This 4 hour Workshop will take place at the popular East Village Cabaret Pangea and allow participants to work on an actual stage with a professional accompanist. 
 
You’ll be required to have 2 songs prepared, fully memorized, with charts in the right key for our professional pianist.
 

This will be an exciting and invaluable opportunity to work with both a vocal & performance coach and an award winning director & educator in a friendly, relaxed, supportive environment. You can take chances, develop material &  learn important tools to make the stage your own!

Meet The Team

Gerry Geddes

Gerry Geddes is an award-winning director, writer, performer and lead critic for BistroAwards.com. He has taught classes in vocal performance at N.Y.U, The New School, London’s Goldsmith College, as well as Helen Baldassare’s legendary Vocal Performance Workshop. He has worked with such cabaret luminaries as Baldassare, Andre De Shields, Darius de Haas, Lisa Viggiano and many others. For 5 years has been an artist in residence at Pangea with his hit series Fabulous First Fridays. 

Micah Barnes

Micah Barnes is a chart topping touring artist, a former member of the legendary A Capella group, The Nylons,  and founder of The Singers Playground Studio, (Toronto, Los Angeles), where he coaches the next generation of Grammy & Emmy Award-Winning artists including J.P. Saxe and Tatiana Maslany. Micah just wrapped up his second season as Musical Advisor and Coach on Canada’s Got Talent.

Darius Frowner

The class will be accompanied by Darius Frowner. Darius is a renowned musical director and pianist who has collaborated with Broadway stars such as Norm Lewis, Billy Porter, and Kristin Chenoweth. He has music-directed national tours and regional productions of shows like Jersey Boys, Hairspray, and Ain’t Misbehavin’. His affiliations include NYU, Tisch, Harlem School of the Arts, Pratt Institute, and The New School (with Gerry Geddes). When not teaching or involved in theater, Darius can be found hosting open mic jam sessions or working on cabaret projects at venues like The Duplex, Stonewall, and The Monster in downtown Manhattan.
