Self Talk with Associate Coach Cameron Tania

The Impact of Self Talk on Performance

Positive self-talk is a crucial yet often challenging aspect of our inner dialogue.

Whether it’s acknowledging our achievements or simply affirming our abilities, maintaining positive self-talk can sometimes feel daunting. In moments of pressure, negative thoughts can flood our minds, causing unnecessary worry and doubt.

For instance, concerns about hitting the high notes in a song or anxieties about potential mishaps on stage can overshadow our confidence!

How We Talk to Ourselves Matters!

It’s important to recognize that the way we speak to ourselves before a performance directly influences our mindset on stage. If we allow negative thoughts to dominate our internal narrative, they’re likely to manifest during our time in the spotlight. However, when we actively cultivate positive self-talk, the impact can be profound.

Personally, integrating regular positive affirmations into my routine has been transformative, both in my daily life and in the quality of my performances. Before taking the stage, I make a conscious effort to speak words of encouragement aloud, affirming my readiness, preparation, and trust in myself.

This practice not only boosts my confidence but also serves as a grounding ritual, enhancing my overall experience.

You Are Worth the Extra Support!

Consider incorporating this practice into your own pre-performance routine.

Take a moment to affirm your capabilities and embrace the present moment with positivity. Repeat phrases like, “I am prepared and capable. I trust in my abilities and am ready to shine.”

Over time, you’ll likely notice a significant shift in your confidence and presence onstage.

Ultimately, positive self-talk isn’t just a performance enhancer; it’s a powerful tool for personal growth and empowerment. Embrace the practice, and witness the transformative impact it can have on your journey as a performer and beyond.

I look forward to seeing you all in the Playground!
